Check eclipsesNot every tool is a forecast, and none should be the sole basis for a safety decision. The meaning of the data depends on the update time, location, weather and official notices. For each map, we therefore explain how to read the result and what to check next.
For night-sky observations, the date alone is not enough. A meteor-shower peak may occur during a bright full Moon, an eclipse may be visible only from a selected area, and a good aurora forecast will not help under complete cloud cover. First choose the phenomenon, then combine the calendar with the Moon phase and current weather.

Start with the question you need answered.
First check the time of the latest update. Storms, auroras and seismic activity can change quickly, so an older image may not describe conditions when you head out. An empty field does not always mean that nothing is happening.
Then narrow the result to your own location. An aurora may be visible in the north of the country, a cyanobacteria bloom may affect only one beach, and an earthquake within a country may occur far from your planned route.
Finally, compare the map with an official notice. For weather, use official warnings; for bathing areas, use official GIS data; and for stronger earthquakes, check information from local authorities. These tools make the first stage of checking easier, but they do not replace decisions made by the responsible services.
