If the long weekend falls around May or June, Southern Europe, islands, cities with a beach and short road routes work well. In August, it is better to think about the North, nature or a short holiday away from the strongest heat. In autumn, cities, food, museums and destinations with a good indoor plan win. In winter, warm destinations, festive city breaks or the North make sense if the goal is nature, the Northern Lights and a calmer pace.

The best long weekend is not the one where you “see everything”. It is the one after which you feel you changed places, had a good daily rhythm and made a few specific memories.
