Hey, during many trips to Iceland, I always discover something new, but there are places I love to return to the most. Among them are waterfalls. That’s why in this article I wanted to highlight the lesser-known gems that amazed me the most. Both with their magic, the power of the cascade, or the surroundings like the trail leading to the summit ( Glymur waterfall ). I have chosen a top four of waterfalls in southern Iceland. I know that, for example, Glymur waterfall is more to the west, but I tried to frame them within one geographical zone.

The Stranger Things 5 finale triggered a real avalanche of theories in the fandom. Two appear most frequently: the mysterious “land of 1000 waterfalls” and the thread of the “place with three waterfalls” to which (supposedly) Eleven goes. Sounds like lore from another dimension? Or maybe… like something much more down-to-earth? We break it down.
“Land of 1000 waterfalls” — sounds magical, but could be literal
The first clue is surprisingly simple: the term “land of a thousand waterfalls” is sometimes used as a nickname for Iceland. And it was precisely in Iceland that the final shots of Eleven by the cliff and waterfalls were filmed.
Therefore, the “land of 1000 waterfalls” theory in many versions simply means: Eleven escaped far away — to Iceland (or to a place that the series visually represents as Iceland).
And here the fun begins: is this the real world and a normal escape… or just a “disguised” metaphor?
“Place with 3 waterfalls” — why are viewers arguing about… math?
The finale itself features the motif of escaping “somewhere far away” and the fantasy of a place with three waterfalls. The problem is that when the camera shows the landscape, some viewers see two distinct waterfalls. And suddenly the internet has a topic:

And this is the version liked by those looking for a conspiracy: two instead of three is supposed to be a signal that this is not an objective truth, but a *story* (e.g., Mike’s narration) or that we are watching a “cracked,” incomplete, manipulated reality.
In other words: if even the waterfalls don’t add up in the finale, then maybe that’s the point.
Big “conspiracies” after the finale: what else is circulating online?
1) “Conformity Gate”: the finale is fake and there will be a secret episode
The loudest fandom frenzy: the theory that the epilogue is an illusion / manipulation and that Netflix “hid” the real ending (there were even specific dates and “evidence” circulating like colors, numerology, signs in the background).
Sounds like a classic internet investigation? Yes. Did it come true? Officially — no.
2) “Eleven is alive” vs “Eleven is dead” — and both sides have arguments
The finale leaves her fate in a half-light, which automatically creates two camps. Some claim she escaped and is hiding. Others, that she is stuck “somewhere else” — in another dimension, in a void, in something in between.
The most interesting thing is that both versions can be defended, because the finale works more on emotions than on hard facts.
3) “Iceland is not Iceland” — just another dimension disguised as nature
Another strong current: the fact that it was filmed in a real location doesn’t have to mean the real world in the plot. According to this theory, the creators used Icelandic landscapes as a “visual mask” for a place from another reality.
